1. Title: Re Mee DeOraytha prohibition of Bishul Akum
      Author: Jack Silvers

Shalom Rabbi Genack,

I wrote a chapter in Biopsies of the Bible on pork, beef, and fish tapeworm life cycles. I bet if you chose to read that chapter you would have a great appreciation for science shedding light on what Halacha regarding bishul akum should be. The natural history of pork tapeworm raises another great reason as to why the Mechaber is right, and perhaps the main reason as to why it is a Mee DeOraytha prohibition to eat from cooking of a non-Jew who has eaten pork in the Third World. Check it out

Jack Silvers, M.D.

310 994-7817
