Rabbi Elchanan Adler has been a Rosh Yeshiva at RIETS since 1998, and occupies the Eva, Morris and Jack Rubin Chair in Rabbinics. He studied in the Mirrer Yeshiva under HaRav Elya Brudny shlit”a and HaRav Shmuel Birnbaum zt”l, in Yeshivas Beis Yosef-Novordak, under HaRav Yaakov Jofen zt”l, and received semicha from HaRav Dovid Feinstein zt”l. Rabbi Adler’s affiliation with RIETS began in 1988 as a fellow of the Caroline and Joseph Gruss Kollel Elyon, where he edited Beit Yosef Shaul (volumes 3 and 4), and received the Imrei Shefer writing award. From 2003 to 2006, Rabbi Adler served as co-editor of the Torah journal, Or HaMizrach. Besides being a popular and beloved Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Adler has distinguished himself in the area of bi’ur tefillah, and has authored numerous seforim in Hebrew and English, including: Mitzvas HaShabbos, Yerach Tov, Eis Lecheninah, Asher Chanan (maamarim), Asher Chanan (Haggadah shel Pesach), Tzvi Sifarah, and Chelek Le’Av. Rabbi Adler holds a BA summa cum laude in psychology from CUNY and an MS in secondary Jewish education from Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and Administration, where he received the Axelrod Scholarship Award for Academic Excellence. Rabbi Adler’s shiurim are known for their substantive content and organized presentation. His talks often combine rigorous halachic analysis with practical psychological insight.
