Mark J. Kurzmann, Esq., has represented patients in numerous end-of-life cases in the US and abroad and has advised in drafting mass disaster protocols which allow government to accommodate Halakha and respect Jewish burial practices. He was lead trial counsel in the federal class action which established the right to treatment in NY for civilly-committed mental patients. Before entering private practice, Mr. Kurzmann served as a senior trial attorney at the Justice Department where he successfully defended the Executive Office of the President, FBI, CIA, State Department and National Security Agency in several well-known national security and civil rights cases involving significant issues of public policy. The US Attorney General awarded him the Department’s highest litigation award. His current practice includes novel and complex federal and state litigation, government relations and investigations, crisis management and media relations (including terrorism investigations), zoning and land use, as well as constitutional, civil and religious rights.
