Born and raised in the south of France, Benjamin Courchia graduated from Gan Ami High School in Marseilles with a baccalaureate in biological sciences and enrolled at Yeshiva College majoring in both chemistry and biology at the age of 17. In 2006, he married Sarah Guigui who was then studying biochemistry at Stern College. After graduating from Yeshiva College in January 2007, he started doing research in biochemistry at the Weil Cornell Medical School until July 2008 when both he and his wife began their medical training at The Medical School for International Health at Ben-Gurion University in partnership with Columbia Medical Center. Their daughter, Raphaëlle, was born between their internal medicine and surgery clerkships and is now two and half years old. He graduated in May 2013 and is currently pursuing his residency in Pediatrics at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine at Elmhurst Hospital.
