One correction: I mentioned that the lights in use today are all דרבנן since they aren't incandescent. It was pointed out to me halogen lights also have a heated metal filament, which would be an issur deoraisah, like incandescent bulbs. Practically, this won't change anything since indoor lights and even streetlights very rarely halogen bulbs. Modern street-lamps are regularly LEDs or High Pressure Sodium (HPS) bulbs, which do not utilize a metal filament.
