    1. Title: pre-qabbalistic selihot among the Spanish Portugese Jews
      Author: Shlomo Veroli

Nice shiur! There is a source in Keter Shem Tob by Rabby Gagin who wrote that the minhag of the Spanish Portuguese congregation which pre-dates the acceptance of qabbalah was to always recite selihot immediately after the arbit service. This was a tradition that was practice for many generations until a visit by the late Rabbi Obadiah Yosef who suggested that they change the minhag and adopt the qabbalistic practice to recite selihot at shaat harazon.
