Two main points I would like to discuss with you. When you gave your elegant introduction to the evolvement of Y.U. you began with the part that Rav Shlomo Polotchek , the Meitzicher iluy z'l played and that after his passing Rav Moshe Soloveitchik z'l took over as Rosh Hayishiva with out mentioning the fact that Rav Shimon Schkopf z'l took the place of Rav Polotchek.. Why would you have omitted such an important fact in the history of Y.U. I hope it had nothing to do with the fact that Rav Schkopf z'l had great reservstion at remaining at Y.U. due to the fact that he was not completely comfortable with the secular division of the Yeshiva. Secondly, how is it possible to give an overview of the development of Orthodoxy in America between 1920-to the present, without making mention of Rav Yoel Teitlebaum, the Satmar Rav z'l and the huge part that he played in this develpement. You started off your remarks by stating how repulsive it was for the lack of intellectual honesty that many of the people and leaders exuded in the former years. I agree with that but how did you not see the lack of your intellectual honesty in not mentioning the above INDISPUTABLE FACTS. Respectfully; Notty Rybak

Dear Rabbis Solomon and Notty Rybak, I had a one hour and a half limit for my lecture which was only to deal with the 1920s. I am the individual who has publicised to the world that Rav Shimon Shkop taught for one year in that which is Yeshiva University. I am the one who can give you an honest picture of why he left. It has nothing to do with being dissatisfied with the college, however, I could not speak about it because it would take up too much time due to the limitations of the framework of the lecture. It was one year and does not have the significance that Reb Moishes coming to Yeshiva would later have, an influence which has lasted unto 90 years. Regarding the Satmar Rav, I did not know that he played a role on the American scene in the 1920s. Please be more careful in reaching conclusions in the future. All best regards, Rabbi Dr. Aaron Rakeffet AR/clb
