Mitzvot Torah

Description

Is there such a concept as "Only Torah," Talmud Torah that exempts a person from mitzvot, communal needs, chesed, etc.? How do we understand the expression "Talmud Torah K'neged Kulam"? Is the status of "Toratam umanutam" applicable today - and what exemptions would it confer, if any? Is it so obvious that Jews who learn full time should be exempt from mitzvot such as IDF service? What is the Torah source for exempting even clergy from the military? Delivered in Hebrew at the Modiin Kollel.
