R’ Yaakov Ben Meir, possibly the most influential grandson of Rashi, was a Gadol Hador in his own right. While leading Ashkenazic Jewry, he did so with an entirely different approach than that of his grandfather; focusing more on Gemara, and commenting less on Tanach.
